I’m obsessed with better teamwork and new ways of working.
I’m an organization designer, consultant and facilitator. My focus is on helping organizations adopt healthy collaboration and leadership practices, adopt new ways of working, and become happier and more effective together. My clients are mostly in the non-profit, social enterprise and civil society sectors.
I’m also a former CBC journalist, Rockwood Leadership Institute alumni, and Webby Award-winning producer. From 2010 to 2017, I helped grow the Mozilla Foundation from a staff of about 4 to 80. As a Senior Director at the Foundation, I spent seven years researching open innovation and agile teamwork at the intersection of education, journalism, advocacy and tech. Based on that learning — plus new research in collaborative intelligence, group psychology, and organizational development — I’ve spent the past two years developing a Team Health assessment tool, guidebook and training curriculum.
Writing, teaching & consulting
I also teach and facilitate workshops to help organizations implement these practices, working as a consultant, leadership coach, and trainer. I’ve been fortunate to work with organizations like NYU, the McConnell Foundation, Creative Commons, the City of Toronto, Wikimedia Foundation, Code For Canada and others to implement agile collaboration and organizational learning practices, with an emphasis on team rituals that are easy to learn, repeat, and deliver benefits quickly.
Speaking
I’m a frequent speaker at conferences and have presented at McGill University, the U.S. Library of Congress and London School of Economics.
I live in Montreal with my partner, Katie McKenna (the former Co-Executive Director of the Leap) and our 8-year-old son, Leo. I love cooking, music and DJ-ing at Kensington Market’s “Soul Sunday” block party.
